Life's a gift. Wear it well.
Amanda Strong Boalt grew up in Palm Beach and her childhood there has had a strong influence on her nostalgic designs. Some of her fondest memories come from the colorful world at the home of her Cuban grandfather, Enrique Rousseau, who was married to Lilly Pulitzer Rousseau. They had an open air slat house with shell chandeliers where they were always entertaining dozens of people. "The house had a huge jungle filled with trails and cats and a big trampoline. It was kid heaven. There were lots of vibrant personalities, Cuban food, cigars and bloody Marys."
Her stint as a buyer at Ralph Lauren has also influenced her classic aesthetic. Boalt says she "will never stop drinking the RL kool aid. It's just too good." She has however decided that her eponymous label will operate outside of the "fashion industry" in a world far away from New York and focused on selling to beautiful destinations, resorts, clubs and golf shops around the world. She wants to design for "men who don't take themselves too seriously but are seriously well dressed."
